Attorney General Announces Probe into Trump Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Ties

This past Friday, Pam Bondi appointed Jay Clayton to oversee an inquiry into opponents of the President and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came hours after the president directed her to begin the probe.

In a statement, Bondi commended Jay Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. The official remarked, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”

This action contrasts with a recent memorandum from justice department officials which indicated that the Epstein files did not warrant additional investigations. As per the memo, authorities “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

Trump Calls for Scrutiny of Political Opponents in the Epstein Matter

This news comes as increasing pressure from the president on lawmakers to block the full release of files concerning Epstein before an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Many Republicans are anticipated to support the disclosure.

Recently released communications from Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, revealing information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

On Friday, Trump declared he would direct the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also referred to the “Epstein hoax” as a “deception”.
