Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.

Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Iconic Releases

In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The film will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
